Millfield Estates Expands Property Portfolio with Acquisitions in Bury St Edmunds and Edinburgh

Millfield Estates has expanded its UK property portfolio to 17 with two new acquisitions: a Grade II listed building in Bury St Edmunds (£1.75m) and a modern office in central Edinburgh (£2.75m).

In Bury St Edmunds, Millfield Estates has taken on a 164-year lease for the 9,678 sq ft Old Library. This multi-let site includes three retail units occupied by Sofas & Stuff, Harriet’s Café Tearoom, and Halifax. The historic market town’s growing economy and 13.3% rise in visitor spending over the last five years made it a prime investment location.

Paul Dobson, Property Director at Millfield Estates, said:

“Bury St Edmunds offers excellent transport links to the South East, attracting more visitors to the area. This location has been on our radar for a while, and The Old Library was the perfect opportunity. We look forward to working with our tenants to maintain this iconic building.”

In Edinburgh, Millfield Estates has invested in Venue Studios on Calton Road, marking its first Scottish acquisition. This high-quality multi-let office building is located opposite Edinburgh Waverley Station and features Grade A office space, including a large roof terrace. The 7,960 sq ft suites are home to businesses such as John Thompson & Partners LLP, Salmon Scotland Ltd, and The Big Partnership Group Ltd.

Paul Dobson added:

“Expanding into Scotland has been a long-term goal for Millfield Estates, and Edinburgh was a key target. Venue Studios’ prime location makes it a fantastic addition to our portfolio.”

Millfield Estates worked with Jones Lang LaSalle on this purchase, while Knight Frank represented the vendor.

With three generations of expertise, Millfield Estates continues to build a sustainable UK property portfolio, with key locations including Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, London, and St Albans.
